THE SCIENCE OF ROMERO AND THE EXPLOSIVENESS OF VIDAL ON DISPLAY IN MONTEVIDEO
Matías Romero and Amílcar Vidal were the big winners of the successful evening held on Saturday, January 26 at the Radisson Victoria Plaza hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay, which was televised by TyC Sports and Teledoce.
Romero (born in Neuquén and readied in Córdoba) retained the Argentine and Latin FIB Super Featherweight Championships by winning a unanimous decision over Javier "Jhonny" Herrera (Catamarca), while local hero Amílcar Vidal Jr knocked out Carlos Capelari in just one minute on the very first round.
Thanks to his good left jab, leg movements and scintillating combinations of punches, the undefeated Romero (21-0-0, 7 KO) left no doubt in his second fight against Herrera (16-3-0, 8 KO) and he was deservedly with the unanimous decision that came with the same numbers on the three cards (96-94).
For his part, Vidal Jr, only needed on hook to the body to leave Capelari on the canvas and retain his South American WBC middleweight crown.
In what was the best fight of the night, by the technique and te big heart of both, the good Dominican prospect Ranfis "La Ensalada" Encarnación won the title FEDEBOL AMB featherweight championship wiht a nine-round unanimous decision over Sergio Martín Sosa, from Buenos Aires.
High voltage also had Alfredo Blanco (Pigüé, Argentina) wining an eight-round split decision over formerly undefeated Angel Arias (Domincan Republic). Arias lost two points for rouls and was knocked down in the last round.
